Friday the 13th TV Series in the Works

If you’ve been missing Jason Voorhees, don’t worry – it looks like you’ll be seeing plenty more of him soon, as a Friday the 13th TV show is now in development.

Deadline reported the news, revealing Sean S. Cunningham, who directed the original Friday the 13th in 1980, is one of the executive producers on the series. Yes, there was a Friday the 13th: The Series once before, produced by Paramount while they were making the films, but that show was completely unconnected to the Jason storyline. This time though, the intent is to make a show set in Crystal Lake, with Jason very much a part of it.

Deadline says the Friday the 13th show focuses “on the eclectic characters of Crystal Lake who are forced to confront the return of the killer, as new secrets about his wacky family are revealed.” While the show is set in the present, it seems a lot of flashbacks will be involved, showing Jason “in multiple time periods.” The original film had Jason drown as a young boy in the 1950s, before returning as an increasingly undead killing machine. One film, Jason Goes to Hell, also revealed more about Jason’s family – but given the entire series was rebooted with the 2009 Friday the 13th film (and next year’s new Friday movie looks to be yet another reboot) and it’s unlikely the TV show will stick to the already-shaky continuity laid out in this earlier films.

Básicamente hay planeada una serie, sin fecha pre-establecida, que va a estar fuertemente basada en las películas, podría estar buena si se ponen las pilas.
